New Year, New adventures

As 2018 draws to a close, it's time to think back on all the good times I had. I was able to attend 4 tatting workshops. Many yards of thread passed through my fingers. 2019  is going to be a great year. I am already making plans to attend tatting events. I'm also going to venture into teaching tatting  and have been accepted to teach at several tatting events. I plan to do more blogging about my tatting adventures.
These lovely non-melting snowflakes are from a pattern purchased from the Tatting by the Bay Etsy store. Robin's designs are wonderful.  I  have been practicing with picot gauges. I prefer designs that are not too picot intensive.

First Snowfall

We have had a few flurries here in Kentucky. I'm thankful that  it  is has been too warm for snow, 2018 broke the record for most rain in a year.  The name of this snowflake is  First Snowfall and the pattern can be found on Robin Perfetti's blog.

Poor Neglected blog

Has it really been so long since I posted. It's not because I have not been tying knots. I have been shuttle tatting and needle tatting and even Cro-tatting. The above photos show some of my efforts with the Cro-tatting hook. These were done with size 10 thread and the 1.5 mm Prym hook. This has been a learning experience for me. I've learned so much I have volunteered to teach Cro-tatting at the Fingerlakes Tatting Event in April 2019.

Spring Doily round 5

Round 5 is completed. I gave it a light press with the steam iron before tossing it on the scanner. It looks so delicate done in size 20 thread.

The doily continues

Round 4 has been completed. I really like this DMC Cordonnet thread. It's not as twisty as Lizbeth. Sadly it is not available in pretty colors like the Lizbeth.  Pattern is Renulek's 2018 Spring doily and can be found on her blog.

Round 3

I
I did not have any problems with the third round of the spring doily. I just need to find more time to tat.

Back on track.

This round 2 looks much better.
I am ready to begin round 3. Hopefully after a good night's sleep I will be able to move along without any more major errors. It's a good thing I started with 3 full balls of DMC Cordonnet size 20 Ecru.  Pattern can be found at Renulek's blog. The first 7 rounds have already been released.

Another mistake

I climbed out from round one using a split chain and split ring and made my way around the second round. I scanned the work and got ready for round 3. And then I discovered that those lacy rings were supposed to have 3 picots and I had given them FOUR....
Time to start again. Maybe it's time to learn to count again!  Oh well, these not quite right motifs can be used for something - maybe as crazy quilt embellishments.

That's better

The second attempt for the 2018 Spring Doily looks much nicer.

Now I am ready to move on to round 2.

Still tatting

I resisted started Renulek's 2018 spring doily for as long as I could. Yesterday I gave in. I loaded shuttles with DMC Cordonnet size 20 Ecru and started tatting.

It has been a while since I worked from photos with numbers and when I started round 2, I realized I had messed up. There should have been 2 picots on the chains. No wonder my chains did not fit nicely against the rings.   Nothing for it but to start over.
Round 8 will be released tomorrow. Pattern can be found here. I need to get busy!
